PROFESSIONAL BIO - Guenevere Measham Milne
Classical training and performance/ composition background
Guenevere Measham's career as a cellist began at age 5 studying and playing under her
mother, soprano soloist Susan Shoemaker and her father, London Symphony Orchestra conductor David Measham. Her education revolved primarily around music, completing her high school education and undergraduate degree at North Carolina School of the Arts and receiving her masters degree from California Institute of the Arts.
As a cellist, Guenevere has recently performed with Brian McKnight, The Backstreet Boys, Mariah Carey, Rod Stewart, Charlie Haden, and The Bangles; and has been seen on the Grammys, the American Music Awards, the Radio Music Awards, as well as MTV music videos for Brian McKnight, The All American Rejects, and The Calling. Currently, she can be seen playing cello with her string quartet on a national television ad for GE Water Technology.
Her arranging work can be heard on Sense Field's latest album "Living Outside" & Fuel's "Natural Selection". She arranged and orchestrated a Harry Nilsson song, "City Life", for artist Mathias Poledna's installation at the Modern Art Museum in Vienna. Most recently, she has been working for the Vitamin record label arranging string quartet tribute albums for such bands as POD, White Stripes, Duran Duran, and Santana.
In the world of composing, Guenevere was commissioned by Macintosh Computers for 2 original string pieces for an ad campaign in 2002. She also recieved a grant to compose and record string quartet pieces for her upcoming release, "From the Ground Up & Under". One of her original string quartets, "Run Run", can be heard on the Vitamin Records upcoming Duran Duran tribute album.
Guenevere continues to help build bridges between the classical and rock world, by being inspired as a performer, arranger and composer. Guenevere Measham endorses NS design (Steinberger Electric Instruments) and Coda Bows.
